The deliciously homely flavour of our Pear & Cinnamon Cordial reminds us of a pear version of Apple Strudle pudding. Made by hand with English pears it makes a fabulous non-alcoholic drink that is refreshing and not too sweet.
How is it best used?
All our cordials are very concentrated. Mix a single 25ml measure of cordial with at least 250ml of either tap water, soda water, tonic water or ginger ale to make a fantastic long and refreshing drink. Use plenty of ice with slices of fresh pear, lime, lemon and other fruits to create a delicious non-alcoholic cocktail or "mocktails".
Thei Pear & Cinnamon Cordial can be mulled. Simply add a measure of cordial to a suitable mug and top up with boiling water. This cordial can also make a delicious alcohol free aperitif, instead of the classic 6 o'clock Gin & Tonic, when mixed with sparkling mineral water or tonic. The trick is to create a proper drink with plenty of ice and garnish with a slice of pear.
We are working on some new cocktails for this cordial right now. If you have any suggestions, please do let us know!
How long will it last?
Our cordials are made of only natural ingredients, with no preservatives. If unopened and kept in a cool, dark place they should be safe to consume up to 3 months from purchase, or prior to the BBE (Best Before End) date shown on the bottle, which ever the earlier date. However, once opened the cordial should be refrigerated and consumed within 4 weeks.
Anything else I should know?
Frances and I have been deliberating on introducing a range of cordials to our Demijohn selection of drinks since we started in 2004. Finally, in early 2016 we discovered a little known micro producer called Charlotte Grant who not only is immensely passionate about making cordials, has a magical skill.
Charlotte has been making amazing cordials from hedgerow ingredients gathered in and around her Suffolk home for a number of years. This cordial is part of our range of non-alcoholic drinks which we plan to expand over time.
