This is the latest harvest of Kabbadates Extra Virgin Olive from Kabbadates Estate in Corfu and it will not disappoint. This first class, single estate olive oil was pressed in early January 2023.
It has a freshness to it, like cut grass or fresh olives. Its concentrated flavour also has a slight fruity quality about it and an exciting peppery taste. It is perfect for use with stronger flavoured foods.
How is it best used?
We have enjoyed all the Kabbadates Extra Virgin Olive Oils we have stocked since 2008, with each harvest bringing new and delicious tastes and aromas to our senses. This olive oil, like their other harvests, is quite literally drinkable and has a velvety smooth texture.
A medium to strong single estate oil such as this, is excellent for dressing strong flavoured salads with our more robust of vinegars. Try it with either our fruity Bramble Vinegar or Tayberry Vinegar or if you are feeling like a real treat, our 25 year old Traditional Balsamic Vinegar.
Using it for Traditional Bruschetta is a must, as are using it to dress rocket and cress salads or for making Gazpacho Soup.
How is this made?
The Samoilys family have farmed the Kabbadades estate for 300 years and are famed for having introduced the Koroneika olive to Corfu 50 years ago, which was later to become the olive of choice by the local producers on this beautiful Greek Island.
Our introduction to the oil was similar to many of our introductions to new products, a combination of luck and chance via a family friend. Without their kind help this wonderful oil would still be stuck in Corfu!
