We are always having fun helping to develop new products with our colourful collection of producers, and this Apple Vinegar from David Burberry's Fruit Farm in Comrie, Perthshire is just one such example of our co-operative like success story.
How is it best used?
This subtle infusion of Scottish grown apples and malt vinegar make a delightful dressing for a salad and blends well with our delicate Extra Virgin Olive Oils. Although our experimentation goes on, we have found its natural apple taste and slight sweetness make it highly versatile for use in sauces, gravies and even marinades for pork dishes. If the sun comes out, this can make the most refreshing Summer drink imaginable with a splash of sparkling mineral water and a little ice. Add a leaf of mint for a finishing touch.
How is this made?
David had a glut of apples from his garden after the magical 2006 fruit growing season, which needed using in some way. We needed a new fruit vinegar. After much experimenting and tasting our new apple vinegar was born.
